172/182 seats are terrible! No support whatsoever.

Unless you're talking about the material used??

But in terms of comfort and support, the williams/16v seats are leagues ahead.

I really like the 1*2 seats

Strangely I brought the car due to the inside to be honest. Its a lovely place to be and with the extras too I was won over. Material yes its horrible in the williams

I think they support you well but we will agree to dis agree

And Dan is 100% right. The 172 seats are just seats, s**t ones at that. Mk1 seats on the whole, not just the Williams - are engineered beds. Driving position is much better too

We are all different sizes remember

I have spent the past 8 years in various forms of Mk2 Clio's, and the 5 years previous to that in mk1's, and for my frame, the mk1 is 10x more comfortable than any of my mk2's were - you feel 'in' a mk1, where i always felt 'on' a mk2 - don't get e wrong, the mk2 Clio seats are fine, but the mk1 IMO give more support and offer a better driving position

But we are all different

I am not saying the seat isnt comfy but can't see how some think its a 'better seat' than the 1*2. Looks like Poundshop covers on the williams.

The Williams seats are better at being sports seats than standard 1*2. Yes 1*2 seats look better but they aren't the better seat between the 2.

I had a Clio 16v for 3 and a half years and loved it.

Are the seats the same I had a mk 1 btw!

I have a Ph 1 172 and a Williams (1) and I can confirm the seats are more comfortable, more supportive and a better sport seat in the Williams.

If you get a Williams get a proper one i.e a 1.

Mine is pretty mint and has cost a fortune to get there, be prepared to have a love hate relationship. The down side of the mintyness is that it now never comes out of the garage and people are only allowed near it whilst wearing an overall made of cottonwool.

Mechanically it's spot on. I've just replaced all 4 shocks with brand new genuine items along with new top mounts and genuine springs. Also fitted new genuine engine mounts and a powerflex dogbone mount and standard exhaust. It's going into a local Renault specialist to have the belts + pulleys changed along with the water pump, New genuine handbrake cables and braided brake lines fitted.

Body work wise the rear arches are rotten along with the sills. It's going into the bodyshop in the next month or so for a full respray and new arches,sills etc. Can't wait to have it finished and back on the road.

Wow, sounds like it's having a lot of work done mate, mine is just starting to go on the n/s arch, the o/s arch is still fine, though once iv got the summer over with it will be going in to have the n/s sorted and the o/s checked and sealed.

Sills are good, just a little bit of surface rust here and there where the underseal has chipped off - il be getting it on the ramps at work soon and sanding all that down and coating it all.

Although a pain for you, if it helps yours should look stunning soon!

Clean up and basic mechanical stuff- right up my ally.

Anything serious and I know I would end up saying "birchdown, blank cheque, sort it".

I just don't have any patience for crawling round on the floor tbh.

Handling is better than a 172, the driving position is better, the seats are better, the steering is better, the depreciation is non-existent.... Whats not to love??
