gutted, was really wanting this car :(

the more most annoying thing, when i renew in a few month time i will be 21 and have 1 years no claims, so it drops to 1259! which i can aford easily, can afford upto around 1700.

I'm sure someone will suggest a few insurance companies to you. You'd be mad to pay nearly £3k, although i know a few on here have done something similar!

Best of luck.

Get quotes from Admiral/Bell/Elephant as they're all the same group, but they give very different quotes. Also try Direct Line, Tesco and Greenlight.

See what offers you get.

How many months? Can you insure it on a temp basis (3 or 6 months cover) until your over 21?

  MKV Golf GTi (240bhp)
try tesco - they quoted me only 700 fully comp and im 22 with no ncb, and 1 claim and 6 points - had to insure it in my mums name though

if i was you go to tesco.co.uk and do an online quote in one of your parents name and you as a named driver

that should bring it down to around the 1000 mark i would have thought

good luck

  Soon a 172 CUP

If you can pay all in one go elephant seem to beat most quotes. My younger brother is in a similar situation and they have beaten all his quotes by nearly £600!!

Don't know how many miles you do a year but if you are not using the car that often by limiting your mileage to 10k or less a year makes a very big difference.

HTH :)

Why not just wait for a bit longer? I managed to get my 182 Cup insured when I was 20 but then again I did have 2 years NCB.

Adrian Flux were the cheapest for me.

Also you could try adding a more mature driver to your policy who has a bit of driving experience under their belt - maybe your mum/dad. Sometimes brings the cost down.

Unlucky, the Cup is clearly a well crashed car by novices so they are always going to be a nightmare to insure with no NCB. Its always much more complicated than just insurance group, a ins Group 20 S4 was the same as a Cup for me at 20.
