  Renault Clio 182
driving down a dark motorway and the orange ESP light (skidding car thing) and the SERV light flash up in orange frightening the life out of me so limp the car home.

stopped the engine and then restarted it and the lights have gone,AA fella says take it to Renault as there may be a brake fault.cant understand why the lights have gone out if theres a problem.

anyway any ideas on the fault if there is one?

you're only meant to call the AA in a breakdown situation, you weren't in a breakdown situation, it was just a bunch of lights, what did you expect him to do? fix it for you?

i had the same thing happen once on my 172 - light came on as i was driving carefully  along the A19 and stayed on til i stopped. Once i switched the engine off and back on it went out and hasn't been back on since! That was about 2 month ago - so hopefully just another renault quirk lol

yeah thanks for the constructive reply, no i didnt want him to fix it i just wanted him to tell me i wouldnt f**k the engine driving it to the garage tomorrow and for Renault to wash their hands of the problem .

as for only calling them in a breakdown thats b****cks if your a member you can do what you like thats what its there for.

Figures crossed still have not called the AA to the 182. Only in my old escort when it went into reverse when selecting 1st. Made for interesting stop starts in traffic lol

Anyway, your problem might be the brake sensor switch so might metion that to them.... happened to mine and needed adjusting.

Mines done that once or twice... figured it couldn't be too serious as the ABS + TCS still worked with those lights on..

It will be a brake switch problem i've had mine changed twice, nothing to worry about.
