Yeah, I've just started getting this, it is the brake fluid. I know it needs doing but I'm just too lazy to go and get some! While we are the subject can anyone recommend any?

Depends how hard you drive your card. OEM Renault pads are about £30 or so.

Top up your brake fluid.

Seems to be quite a common thing needing to top up the brake fluid . I noticed this on my old 172 , but i also noticed the cap was loose and had leaked a bit of fluid out . Same on my 182 , checked it when it was new and the cap was loose on there also .

hit your car for being naughty. always worked in my 172, luckily theres hardly nothing in the cup. means less flashing lights.fact.

I've had this problem a few times! Flying round the same corner. Its not happened on any others? Odd.

I'll check the fluid...

is the service light on at the same time? if so check that the brake lights are coming on as soonas you press the brake pedal, otherwise might be brake pressure sensor calibration issue that's common, mines had it and been fixed.

Ross it maybe because you have to park on that massive hill infront of yours all the time too...

The only time i use my handbrake is for steep hill starts, jus leave it parked in gear in the garage as the rear pads sometimes stick on if its been raining then left for a few days..

yeah could be the cause of the problem. my handbrakes always put on quite high.

and as above about those lights (ABS, ESP + SERV) ... i have had them twice in the past but not lately :S

whats type of brake fluid should i use then ?

Any Dot 4 brake fluid mate some people like to go for more expensive stuff like castrol response or silkolene , but bog standard halfrauds stuff will be ok . If you say your pads are ok the level will most likely be low . Check the cap on the brake fluid bottle , see if its come loose . Just top it up and make sure its tight .
Mine used to come on alot round certain bends if i was pushing it .

As to the rear pads sticking when setting off after being left a while , my 172 did this for a couple of months , my 182 did it for a couple of weeks , 5 weeks old now and its stopped doing it .
