handbrake

the passenger rear handbrake failed on my MOT, and i was just wondering what could it be? been told it could be the cable or the rear brake drums anything else i should look at?

could be:-

1,handbrake cable

2,poor adjustment on that rear brake

3,handbrake lever arm on the brake shoe seized

4,worn linings or maybe contamination(eg-leaking wheel cylinder)

Did the foot brake on that side pass ok?

ok.either a snapped/seized cable or the handbrake cable arm on the brake shoe is seized.

The MOT place should of been able to tell you whilst its up in the air.

Snapped cable is easy to see, and a broken mechanism just as easy.

just been to the garage and they did a complete brake service on it and done some stuff to my engine to get the emmissions down, and it cost £80 so hopefully itll past, i can hardly pull the hand brake up now!!

cable maybe but they cant check the mechanism inside the drum. drums arent removed on a mot.
