Handling

  Not got a car
Just gave my clio a good ssing to for the 1st time really, down a nice back road, nice new flat road not shard corners but nice twisty corners.

It feels very unstable under braking and accelerating like it starts to float and skate, how can i get rid of this i dont like it, it feel dangerous

check the tyres are fine, springs, shocks everything basically that is connected to the road or wheels. could be just a simple fix. check your tracking as well and if the tyres are correctly inflated.

and just out of interest how fast was you driving? lol

Is the car stripped? that always makes for an unstable ride under braking.

Try sticking a full tank of petrol in, it sounds stupid but you'd be suprised how much it keeps the back end in check ;)

What car are you compairing it 2? Remember its only a little car with a short wheel base.

Also how smooth was the road, i know you said it was a flat road, but what were the cambers on the road like, mine follows cambers a fair bit but got used to it now. I like the feeling, seems like im going even faster.

I might be very wrong saying this but i am under the impression that better quality tyres will help, but not sure if thats true!! im on budgets till the end of the month so i will see if better tyres makes a diffrence.

its a characteristic of rs clios unfortunatly, its something you will get use to and can catch you out on the right road or if your not expecting it, there has been few threads about this in the past

I have a standard 182 (no cup suspension) and have never had floaty or skating feeling. Handling as always been solid and its now even better as i have recently fitted prolines. It now feels planted and aint moving anywhere!

I used to have the same problem.. then i bought eibach sportlines and it went away.

However it will happen under hard braking from 110+

Worth every penny though. You have to ask yourself which you would rather; a set of lowering springs, or a fixed damping, height adjustable entry-level coilover kit for £200.00 more, I know which I would choose....
