Hard disk experts please (data recovery)

  Cupra
I am trying to recover the data from a hard disk for my wifes work but am having some trouble...

I have a handy IDE-USB cable with a power supply which can normally be used to open most hard disks but this one does not even register on the PC. I can hear it spinning up and the PC registers that it is an external drive but it does not appear on the list of disks on the PC.

Is there any point in taking it to the professionals? What more can they do to get the data off?

Any suggestions welcome!

Try ERD boot disk

I used it a couple of weeks ago to recover all the my docs etc from a hard drive but that one showed up in disk manager and just said it had to be formatted

Worth a try though

Yea, dont format it, just boot up from the ERD boot disk then its disk commander or something

It takes ages as well by the way so be patient
