Has anyone done this to there F4R engine?

Has anyone on here, when they needed to strip their engine for repair for example, decided to bore it out or blueprint it and fit uprated parts? I'm just curious as I know that many have fitted ITB's, a SC or TC to gain power but I don't recall anyone upping the cylinder size. Is it because the block is already at it's maximum tolerance or would doing this gain little over the other mods? I once had my 205 1.9 GTi engine blueprinted and this gave about 160bhp over the standard 130 so I'm wondering if anyone has done a similar job on an F4R.

I had a mk1 golf gti done at TSR, 1.9 pack c- so bored out a little and bigger valves and ported head. Maybe the cost-benefit on the F4RT isn’t good enough? Or gaining other areas easy to come by? I mean, relatively, .

Has been done, but very minimal gains and not worth buying larger pistons unless you absolutely need them.

Stock engine is 1998cc, overbore to 84mm will take it to 2061cc. Use those extra 63 cubic centimetres wisely.

Exactly - 200bhp so 0.1bhp per cc... 6.3bhp (maybe) for probably £1200 doesn't seem like good value. The only caveat would be if you were increase CR at the same time, but at that point you should also be into cams.... then injectors.... then then.
