Has anyone else gone back to standard??

  Nothing at the mo :(
Me and the misses moving out soon and we planned on downgrading both our cars to save some cash

Now instead of downgrading mine i was thinking of just putting it completely back to standard, at least at september i got a wider choice of insurance companies

Anyone else done the same for this reason??

hmm maybe.. knowing i wont have a loud exhaust on it means i probably wont put my foot down no where near as much

plus i got a bmc and a yozza on it.. which could fetch in a fair bit of cash.

DONT sell it! just put it back to standard mate... raise some cash by selling the yozza etc and keep the car. well worth it! youl only end up getting another car and wishing you hadnt sold the 182.

you may find you raggin' it more with the oem exhaust on in the aid of trying to get a note you enjoy.

To raise cash for part of my holiday i sold the majority of my mods

paid for my holiday, insurance is a bit lower now and i enjoy the car more :)

win win

Strip the interior and get one seat ;)

More fuel efficient and £££ for the leather/suede!

I did this with my Trophy a couple of years ago.

The previous owner had fitted KW V2's, OMP buckets, removed the ABS and ESP, etc.

I took real pleasure from meticulously setting everything back to standard and managed to make a small pile of cash in the meantime - I straight swapped the OMP buckets for the original recaros, sold the coilovers for about 650 quid (got the oe suspension with the car), got some standard OE discs from K tech and I was away.

If you look at it like a project to bring it back up to original show-room spec it can be quite rewarding.

Best way to save money though is to use the car a bit less. I worked out mine was costing me about 50p per mile. Just doing a few thousand miles less per year will save you more than you'll make from downgrading to a lesser car!

Take the bike, walk, take the bus. Man I sound like Greenpeace or something. Trust me, it really does make a difference though.

It depends what mods you want to remove. I mean... If the noise is a big thing to you you may not enjoy it as much without the yozza.

why go to standard, just keep your car and get rid of hers!! your not gonna save much on insurance and fuel, as someone said you'll still kick its arse in trying to make it sound like the yozza!!

I get the bus to work now and scab lifts home when I can, makes a huge difference. Only done 20 miles in last week! Means I can take the car out for random jaunts and not feel guilty.

I sometimes wish I'd kept mine standard, for all the money and hassle of modifying your car does it really make it that much more fun to drive? Nope!
