Has this been heard of before?

Went to look at a Ph1 172 today. Reversed it out of the garage put it into neutral and then tried first gear, nothing. Would not go into any gear. Guy came over managed to sort it and so i drove it to the petrol station. Same thing happened and wouldnt go into gear again...

The geezer said that i had engaged reverse gear properly and so wouldnt go into another gear because it was 'locked' into reverse........

has anyone heard of this bullshit before??????

Thats exactly what i thought, i had actually bought the car as when i drove it initially it was fine, very smooth........ guy was a bit of an arse really......... got a refund

Keep looking! There's too many good examples around to settle for obvious faults.

Im thinking that there is an issue with the gearbox, it was a trader we bought the car from and tbh he was being a bit of c**t.......................
Just spotted it on ebay as well.....................says its mint basically ill find the link..

did u have your clutch down ?

Something sounds fishy...stating the ohvious gear box

Take it to a grage for them to take a look

The Ebay ad looks alright to be honest - not perfect but pretty cheap. BUT, he's made a point that the gearbox and clutch work as they should, which would immediately make me worry!
