Have i got some kind of fuel leak

bought my clio about 2 weeks ago ...the first tank of fuel got me about 220 mile 24.5 mpg on the trip comp thought this was shite but put it down to a heavy foot because of new toy ...but heres the strainge one

filled it up friday night to the brim drove home about 10 miles nice and easy 32mpg on the trip ...parked it up all over weekend as we use the company car on the weekends got in it to pick the lad up from school and its on 22.5 mpg and its gone down one nothch on the fuel gauge now all i have done is have it running for about 20 mins on saturday while i sat in there and cleaned it ..so i could have a bit of heat do i have a fuel leak or what surely i shouldn't have used one notch on the fuel guage looked at the trip and i have only done 18.5 miles it says i have used 0.9 gal since filling up ! ?

could be a faulty fuel sensor? id take it renault just to make sure though.

I only get 220 miles out of a tank on my MK1 172. I average around 23-25mpg per tank. I only do round town driving and it does get alot of loud pedal from time to time.
I did a run from Notts to Liverpool and back and averaged 36mpg

If you have it sat idling for 20 mins on a full tank it will drop you mpg massively if you reset the trip computer. I know if I fill mine up and the next day sit in traffic going to work it ticks downwards like some sort of countdown timer.

just think, while its sat stationary its doing 0mpg, cos its not moving. so your average is going to rocket down.

I do the commute through manchester every morning and still manager 340+!! Something wierd. How much is it costing you to fill??

the more worring thing is the way the fuel guage goes down i mean its gone down one pip and i ahve only done 18 miles ?

Your mpg will drop a huge amount if your just sitting there idling. Especially if the average is only over a few miles which it sounds it is and hasnt got a solid average. As for the petrol guage, who knows but you might find it fluckuates a bit or drops more to begin with and slows off towards the end.

me too, was think if hes only putting £20 in and its full then its guage issue rather than a leak

wen i fill up a full tank the 1st half of the tank seeems 2 last me longer then the 2nd half....when full the needle will stay there 4 ages......but wen theres only 1/4 tank left the needle drops faster than my rev counter lol

no t i think i have a leak now not used it since i looked yesterday and now its down another notch ...looked under the car but cant see any signes of a leak ...this is driving me crazy

my comp never goes above 30 mpg i cant seem to get it above no matter how i drive.

after a week of 34 mile round trips to work and back at about 70 in a str8 line my Ph1 172 gives...................................46mpg!! First 2 notches on gauge drop rapid after that it slows down, have got it to read 52 mpg before and Mike at Rentech can vouch for it!

i get around 37-42mpg , 42s if im mway alot, 37 normal for work n back usual trafic

yer the notches on the gauge doesnt go down evenly

also u might notice the trip computer reseting with this cold weather.

as for yer drivin i rarley take mine over 3k unless i need the power

Done 100 miles fuel gauge says half tank left, av mpg 30.4.

Lots of short, drive it as if stolen involved.

First half disappears really quick???????

Mike reset mine using the Renault Clip software.
