having problem with gear changing with my clio sport 197

dear guys, did anyone know or had my story before?! it's my first post here! The story: i got a used Clio sport 197 model 2009. :star: and when i want to change the gear to 3 it gives me a voice (it's the same voice when you miss press the clutch when you want to change the gear). and it's only happning when i want to shift to gear 3. i took the car to the agency! because in my country/ out cars workshops they dont have experience with French cars! the manger of the agency work shop. told me that the problem could be from the gear and could be from the clutch! and just checking the clatch of the gear he should to open the gear! and just checking cost 350$!!! and he said always if we want just to change the clutch desk in this car. we have to open the gear! so what do you think guys?! do you advice me to check the gear and then decide ? or it's from the clatch so i directly change the clutch desk? and please if anyone here works with renault agencies (in europe countries) to tell me, is that true in clio sport when i want to change the clatch they need to open half of the gear?

From what I can gather its crunching in 3rd ? If so it could be a worn clutch disc (friction plate) but its more likely that its the 3rd gear synchromesh inside the gearbox !

agency guy told me the crunching maybe from synchromish inside the 3rd gear!
do you advice me to open the gear?
​or i can leave it if it will not affect on the gear in general

Personally If it was my car I'd relive the gearbox and inspect the clutch, if that's okay if then take apart the box and replace the syncro's but that assuming you know what to do if not best left to a specialist , and either way the gearbox needs to be removed !

Quite common. New gearbox needed, Renault will contribute towards the cost, but good luck getting that done in Abu Dhabi!

your saying it like its a normal problem, Buying new gear box like you tell me throw the car!
here the gear box costs more than the car price
it's almost 10000$ !!!
and i'ts impossible to find a second hand one

There's a place called RSC over here who were doing new boxes very cheap. Maybe they will ship one out to you!

Buy a replacement gearbox online!! Do not ask the garage investigate the problem!!

french cars are not common! There is very very few people deal with them!
i affraid to put it outside agency garages!
they may make it worse when they check it!
they agency labors fees only for checking the problem is 380$ ( just for opening the agearbox)!
i actually also don't like to deal with them because they know people who have renault
in this country they just go back to them to mentainance them cars
cu no one else can do
the same thing withs peugot owners

raandomly garages in this county just repair toyota getman and anirecan cars

A bit of a bump,but preferable to starting a new thread.
RSC is a bit like Aldi,has new PH2 throttle bodies @ £56 next to the pineapples,flanked by a used Clio V6 engine @ £1200 + vat.

Does anyone know if an r26 gearbox is a straight swap into a 197/200?

If it is, it sounds like a no brainer for if the gearbox goes.
