Having problems locating worn wheel bearing, need advice!
I have a wheel bearing that's making a noise at +50mph on my 182, I have used my normal method of checking the wheels for play at 9-3 and 12-6, no movement in any if them. I have also checked my fronts in my usual manner of jacking up 1 at a time and running the car in gear 2/3 at said speed to see if the rumbling can be heard, but no luck (btw if you do this, make sure you turn the ESP off). So im now wondering if its the rears, so what I was going to do was take them off and check them for notching etc, but I wanted to check that should they be OK, they can be put back on ok? i.e, just because I have taken them off, I wont need to buy new bearings/hub nuts etc?
Also I know if it is the rears, the wheel can potentially fall off, but can I assume like the Mk1s, the fronts cant fall off due to the hub through the centre?
