Having trouble cleaning 182 rims...

Bits of brake dust that I cant remove. Tried autoglym wheel cleaner (hoorible aciddy stuff IMHO) and a stiff brush, and car wash and even some zymol HD cleanse in desperation.

Whats happened! Only had it 6 months

Try a clay bar or wonder wheels, this is more acidic than autoglym but once clean wax them and they will be a lot easier to maintain

I polished and extra glossed mine with Autoglym when I picked it up and havent had to use anything other then car saop on mine.

I was using half sponge to get inside to clean mine till Brazo recommended a wheel brush from halfords, works a treat, no more grazed knuckles.

Bit of white spirit on some rag should get it off!

Its possibly tar? try some tar remover.

i use hydrochloric acid... diluted heavily obviously and leave it on for about a minute then i power wash it off and then rinse with soapy water...

works an absolute treat! looked brand spanking new...

then prob wax and seal them up. thatll sort it.

It may well be tar thinking about it so i will purchase some tar remover tomorrow!!

i was dubious at first but it works a treat, put it in an old jam jar some water from the hose and an old brush to work it into the tight bits in the rim...

I put come turtle wax brake dust barrier on when i got car home, easy to clean now, nothing more than soap and water. Helps doing it every week though.

Worst wheels Ive ever had for cleaning, absolutely awful...

Anyone know anything not so strong in chemicals that I could use?

When mine get really dirty I use Autoglym Engine and Machine Cleaner or Motorcycle cleaner. (Both the same product ) but are paint safe and contain no acid.

apart from brake dust or tar, have any of you noticed some yellow, rust like colouring along the corners of the alloys, seems a little like rust.

will wonder wheels etc work on getting rid of that?

Im thinking of getting aftermarket wheels. I love the OE ones but they just seem sh*t for keeping clean and that.

Hoping they develop a defect in the next few months so I can get all 4 replaced!

that will be rust off the discs. Just give them a clean with a brush.

i have tried loads of products including some zymol products but nothing cleans all crap off the wheels no matter how stuck on like wonder wheels, and it doesnt damage the wheels as long as you water it down and treat it with respect.

yes, i had some really stubborn staines, tar and brake dust on mine but a few minutes with this stuff and honestly they were as good as the day I picked the car up. Also best to give them a layer of polish after a good clean to protect them too.
