Hazard lights and central locking problem

Yesterday, the hazard lights came on whilst I was driving. I pulled over, and switched off the engine. When I re-started and set off, the lights did not start flashing again until the central locking activated. I de-activated the central locking and the hazards switched off. But now each time I stop in traffic, the hazards come on again until I de-activate the central locking. Anyone else had this problem?

Check the cneter hazard warning switch they fail loads new ones are £17 ish from Renault.

I have already experieced the faulty hazards switch which causes the lights to flash all the time. I replaced the switch several months ago, and since then, everything has been OK, and the switch still seems to function as it should do. The latest problem seems to be linked to the central locking mechanism, and I can only switch off the hazards after I manually disengage the central locking. Any more ideas how to remedy this before I go to the Renault dealer?

Sounds like a wet UCH or a bad earth your a bit stuck realy sounds like might have to get someoen to fix it.

I seem to have found the fault. It appears to be connected to the well known wiring problem under the front passenger seat, i.e. the same fault that causes some of the warning lights to come on. After playing around with these wires, the fault seems to have gone away, and everything is back to normal. I have just cancelled my appointment at the dealer's workshop (and saved myself a few quid!).

It makes you wonder why some many Clios were manufactured with this design fault. Why route the wiring under a seat cushion where it is bound to be disturbed?

Its a cheap design issue, a redesign part would have a cost a fortune plus been proof of failure so opeing legal issues so they just left it and fixed if it failed.
