If I bought a Region 1 HD-DVD from the States, would I be right in thinking I'd get perfect HD quality, if it was played on my HD-TV via my X-Box 360?

As far as I'm aware HD-DVD readers are only just getting on the market. I might be wrong though.

I'm going from my understanding and from what I know blu-ray is another companies version of HD-DVD, like VHS and Betamax back in the day.

MS are bringing out an external HD-DVD drive for the Xbox 360 so thats your answer.

Yeah as stated the 360m drive wont do HD-DVD. Toshiba release there first standalone very very soon.

I plan to pick one up when I am in the states in a couple of months

the tosh drive is out now just not here
there is a tosh laptop thats got a hd drive too but sure its not on the street yet

The reason why the xbox 360 wont last long.. who wants to carry around an external drive for a console ?

PS3 with Bluray is the way to go.
