Head Unit Wiring Help please :) ...

  2006 Renault Clio 1.2
Hi just got a new Pioneer head unit, when you hook up the iso connectors from the HU and to the iso going to the speakers and battery etc is the wiring the same? i.e will the battery pin from the headunit link up directly to the battery pin from the cars iso connector??

Thanks

Yes just plug in.

You may have to change the ignition wire and constant live round, so as not to keep reseting the headunit when you turn the ignition off.

Ok cool. Thanks.

What about an aerial adaptor? Some people seem to think they are needed with certain HUs??

My Pioneer needs an aerial adapter but I listen to iPod/CD anyway.

AFAIK all Pioneers do..

It's a tight fit but it all goes in. With the ISO wires you can push them down when the cage ends. Sort of a big hole behind/under the cage you can push it into as you push the head unit in.

If you have RCA's, pull them from wherever they exit to help slide the unit in.

Oh, and I blew two fuses when fitting my head unit because the ISO wires kept rubbing on the cage as I pushed it in until they were bare and shorted out... just make sure they are tucked away (they are now covered in half a roll of electrical tape to ensure it won't happen again. :p ).

umm one thing, how are you supposed to push the wires into the gap as you push the unit in....? surely as soon as the unit is partially in there will be no room for even a screwdriver let alone my fingers! lol.

ha ok will bare that one in mind.

no need to take the dash top off. best thing to do is take the cage out and get all the wires tidy and hidden in places so the stereo will slide in neatly.get them as short as possible then put the cage back in plug the stereo in and slide it back and hear the click with no effort at all.

By the time there's no room for your hand the wires should be pretty well hidden behind... Well, several attempts after anyway.
