Headlamp Washers - Quick Question

I've just bought a 182 on Monday and i can't seem to get the headlamp washers to work.

Are they supposed to work everytime you wash you windscreen with the dipped beam on or is it every other time or every 5th time etc.?

I assume that mine are broken but i want to know how they 'should work' before i go back to the garage and tell them they don't work.

Headlights on, keep your finger on the washer jets stalk for over a second and they headlight washers will work. Don't just give it a flick, need to keep the stalk pulled like I say.

Mine are broke then haha

It's going back into the garage at some point for them to fix them.
