Headlight air feed......

Fitted it today, not sure I like the look, cant help but think it looks a little downs syndromey?? Functional never the less ;)

I have NO idea how Im gonna get the main beam to work though, lengthened the wires so I can have a mess about when I get the car back as is going back down to AWT this weekend for mapping and to sort some other bits out.....

Details of how I did it are in my project thread.....

Not for me, real pikey looking imo. Theres got to be another route that can be taken? Foglight feed?

looks good. looking at the pic though wouldnt it have been eaisier cheaper and just as effective to run it from the upper grill? as i see nothing getting in the way there too

I have a feed from the foglight too ATM, going to be using them as brake cooling ducts though as I plan on doing track days. It's road legal as the dip beam and indicators work, I'm trying to figure out a way of using a dual elemant bulb for dip and main beam but I have no idea how to wire it....Any ideas?

that yellow painted badge is hideous!

doesn't the heat from the lights heat up the feed alot?

what about people putting things inside it (like eggs) because they think its funny?

erm i dont want to rain on your parade, but wat about the rain? lol, looks fuckin quality tho mind you! if i had a 2 liter engine i would def consider this. just be worried about the rain? will if go into the filter?

Other things are going yellow so it'll tie in.... trust me ;)

I doubt it, the feed is like a PVC kinda material, cant see heat being a probem. The putting things in it idea, Ill just take them out?

I think you'd physically need to tip water into the filter for it to be affected. Spray will be diffused by the filter and be vapour by the time it reaches the combustion chamber, besides, theres space besides the filter that rain can go away from it. It's only the same as having a fog light or grill feed IMO, this only pointing at the filter not atatched to it.

i think it looks good btw like i said . all i mean is someone could actualy put there willy in the hole! i

Lol, I know dude. I'm trying not to think about having a c**k in my headlight though ;)

:( Haters! I do think it looks abit gay, but I kinda like it.....It does the job I want it to aswell!

heat from the light shouldn't be a problem at all, the cold air will pass through the piping before it gets a chance to heat up. if anything it will heat up more in the engine bay.
looks ok, wouldn't have it on mine but fair play. if you needed the fog holes for brake ducting then there is not much more room for a decent feed anywhere else.
where do people run the caf when they say 'upper grill' (where exactly?) is there room?

good effort tho mini-valver

Cheers fella.... The upper grill only has space on the left hand side but I dont fancy running a length of hose all the way across the bay as a) It'll look turd, b) block the path of air for the plenum and c) The filter is right by the light, where the frig would It point?

thats what i thought! looks sh!t all the way across the bay and blocking air path to plenum.

good effort with the light caf. neat job :)
will have to look through the progress thread

Only the rad, lol ;)

Def functional!

LOL! That was my initial thought.... My car looks disabled. Grown on me though and as it does a job, it'll stay I think.

Something different, not everyone is gonna like it....

naaa, course not everyone won't like it. fu*k them! lol
it serves a purpose and you will have better airflow than them, and will be different.

overall. My net opinion is love, but as said I'm dissapointed it's ended up facing skywards a bit.

Is the fabricated airbox/plenum (which by the way looks stunning) going to be restrictive. It just seems a bit wierd having ITBs (loads of induction surface area) sucking through the 70mm hose adapter (much less induction area)?

It's a 172 cable throtlle body mate, not ITB's. The plenum is on the front to do away with all the shitty plastics and inlet tract that thye have standard......

I like it:) black would make it stand out less but it depends if you want that. I'd personally stick a fine grill(black of course) in the opening, just to prevent and larger debris getting in.
Also if AWT plan on doing the inlet design on a mass diy kit id deffo buy it. Kinda need the edge as i just got butt raped by jamie shaw and his civic type r:(

Exactly what i'd do.

Although i'd have a closed IK so It can only draw clean air from the front rather than the engine bay area.

Good work Mr Valver of the Mini variety.

with the dual element bulb its simple to wire... take the earth from the main earth on the multi plug to the middle pin, live for dip beam to one side and live for main beam to the other.. dip beam is the filament with the reflector round it..

you need sidelights too for it to pass,,, and it has to give out the correct pattern which you may not have now as it will mess with the reflector

Cheers dude. Would use a closed one but theres not really any room to use one and have the straight line of the inlet set up! Plus, I lika the noise

Seriously that easy?? I'll have a crack tommorrow, cheers fella! My MOT station would pass it with candles so main and full is fine ;)

yep couldnt be easier.. live either side

the bulb is physically bigger though so you'll have to sus how to fit it in the hole
