Headlight washers... which button?

I hate to sound daft but how does one go about washing the headlights on a clio 182? When I pull the windscreen washer they dont come on and I would have assumed that thats how they worked??

That is how they work, although from memory the headlights need to be on.

Lights on and stalked pulled back for 3 seconds.

I think they come on if you hold the washer stalk in for around 5 seconds.
