Headlights, Full beam??

  ford focus
You know like you pull the thing to get your full beam on and it clicks the other day i did it and it just flashed but after 5 minutes it went back to normal is there a way how you can do it so it just flashes, annoys me when i flash ppl and my full beam stays on

if you have auto lights turned on, then full beams will stay on when you pull the stalk gently.

Turn auto lights off, and it will just flash if you pull the stalk gently.

If you havent got auto lights, your pulling the stalk too hard, just need to flick it quickly.

doesn't it act as a toggle switch whilst the dipped headlamps are on but as a flasher when the you've got no lights or just the sidelights on?

if you think about it, the only way around this would be to rig a seperate switch for the full beam, as you wouldn't ever be able to turn full beam on if the switch didn't operate as it does (as a toggle switch).

not much you can do about it realistically

no, its as above mate.

i can have my dipped beams on, and providing im not using auto lights my full beam will just flash when i pull the stalk quickly.

If my auto lights are on (which they never are) then the full beam will stay on with even the slightest flick of the stalk.

Auto-lights is errr automatically 'on' at the '0' setting, ie what you'd imagine was 'off'. Twist the stalk to the second notch to get dipped beams on constant.

Know what you mean, but you can't have auto-lights off unless you put them [permanently] 'on' can you? If you know what I mean.....

yep - sorry - posted mine as you did yours and, as i've one of the poverty-spec ones, the auto lights thing didn't occur to me!
