Headunit help!

Ive been looking at gettin either a JVC or Pioneer headunit, but am proper confused as to what else i need. I know i need an ISO adapter and cos ive got steering controls i guess another cable for that, but i dont really know what im talking about!

thats it really, you need a cage to fit the headunit to but once thats in the unit slots straight into it.

its an easy job, just a plug and play!

Not quite that straight forward. Not all head units will work with the steering wheel control unit and display. You need to check which ones do or which ones have an adaptor available.
The cage is part of any head unit and is a standard DIN fit. The wiring on most modern head units is DIN standard also. BUT check....
Adaptors are available for most head units -- most cars.
