Think I may wait on the scrappy getting an updated Tom Tom cd radio and see if the pioneer fits the MX5.
If not I’ll put it on flea-bay .
Many thanks for your help Sharpy.
Thus ends the prolonged pain, sleep well tonight pal.
Cheers
PC 👍☺️

Good luck, why cant it just be straight forward plug and play?!

If you go back to oem route, hopefully the decoding solution makes it easier for you...i do believe there used to be someone on here that had wrote a keygen for the radios? But i think that was Mk2 clios so the model below the cabasse headunit?? Ive been out of renaults for the past 10+ years so cant quite remember the name of the headunit !

Thanks KarL, this’ll be helpful when I get the newer TomTom version as above.
As I said it’s the Bluetooth that’s handy for her phone when travelling for hands free phone as she uses Google maps .
Thanks for all your help guys, at least that’s the Pioneer ditched for now.
Should have paid more attention to compatibility.
In my Escort and Sierra days, you could put any old stereo in, they all fekn fitted.
Just a pity they weren’t Cosworth versions lol! 😳😂🙏😈

If you need an ignition live feed from the fuse box you can use one of these. Dead easy to take up to the stereo. Run a cable from there to the red wire on the pioneer lead. If you’re feeling brave you can test the pioneer unit by unplugging the red wire and holding it onto the yellow under the joint

In the Edinburgh/Inverkeithing yard Martin?
Just no power getting to it, the Halfords guys did say it needed a live supply to it.
Steve above recommended the fuse lead, so might be worth looking into that.
Was it the TomTom RadioCd unit with Bluetooth as above?

I know this thread has been dead a while, but did you have luck with the TomTom head unit for Bluetooth music streaming? Quite like the idea of OEM fitment for my OCD...
