HEADUNIT PROBLEM, PLEASE HELP.. PICS BELOW

was about to put in an aux cable for my ipod at the back of my headunit, however i noticed there was a loose wire and a blue clip thing pictured below, could someone tell me what the BLUE thing is for and how to connect it up again properly, (it was on the black power cable)

it connects one wire to another. put 2 wires through then close it pressing tht metal bit down creates a connection between the 2 wires

thats what i thought, its says 2.0 on one side and 0.75 on the other??

i have tried connecting the to wires using this but the h unit powers up for like 2secs then goes off again?

do i need this ? can i just twist the to ends together and insulate them?

tried soldering the wire together but still no luck, anyone help????
