Headunit trouble???

I have just fitted my alpine headunit which I had in my old cup and previous car - plugged everything in turned key, and it didn't light up? presed the source button and it was all working.....but doesn't seem to come on auto when the key is turned and also looses all settings as soon as you turn the car off and remove the key???

my mate had a similar problem. think his was something to do with the earth ?

I haven't messed around with any of the wires - just a simple plug in jobby, but just doesn't seem to want to switch on when you turn the key?

Mine doesnt turn on auto, maybe its something to do with the newer alpine headunits.

The wiring was changed IIRC, you need to swap one of the leads on the alpine wiring harness, easy to figure out if you have a look at the alpine wiring diagram in the manual.

hmmmm I got the head unit and speakers fitting by the company I bought the stereo off. So they might have changed something. I was just having a go at fitting it save some cash - and easy enough to do. Just won't turn on when turn the key?

yeah, its to do with the yellow and red wires. One of these will have 2 connections, change which one you are using and it should come on with the ignition. Sorry I cant explain it any better lol

The yellow one is the battery and the red is the power - they both go into the connector but the 'red' has a break in the wire where you can route it to something else
