Heater/air/a/c stopped working on 172...

Got in the car this morning went to turn the air on to demist the windows and nothing. No air, hot or cold, nothing blowing out at all. All the lights on the climate control are on and showing fine just nothing blowing out what so ever.

What could it be? i will take it to a garage later but anyone else have this problem?

Yes i had this the other week.

Its the heater resistor apparently. which costs £85

Total was 230 quid to get it repaired!!

no idea!! I did ask them to trace the fault (they said it takes time!)

But if i had known what it was i could of done it myself.

Maybe they wanted a nice xmas bonus!! ; )

Just happened to me:

See here mate, if your car is out of warranty, im sure it can't be that hard to replace the heat resistor. Check all fuses first though!

Yeah thanks, mines been done now, £176 all inc at my local garage.

Cost me £60 to get a new fan and resistor. Went onto autotrader and searched salvage yards for the parts.

Was delivered the next day in almost new condition.

Turns out it was just the fan as it had become corroded so got a resistor hanging about now.

Its such an easy job to do dont be scared to try yourself before getting ripped off by dealers!!!!

mine did the same a couple of weeks back the part was going cost me 56 including delivery from salvage yard and an hour l;abour to fit and then for no reason my climate starting working fully again and had no problems since..my car is booked into renault in january for climate re charge they check the system fully so see what they say

Mine stopped working today for about 1 min - then started up on its own again!
