Heater works ok but cannot change....

  Clio 182 Trophy. No. 189
.....temperature when driving. Everything works fine by way of the heater speed, air conditioning, etc but you cannot change the temperature when the car is running. When you turn the car off, change the temp and then fire it up, the temp changes! Is this normal or a likely problem?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Only just got the car, first car i've owned other that a Citroen AX (RIP!) and VERY impressed with this car. Boy they shift!!

parts=cheap as chips
labour, lots

Ok will do.

Surely if the cog is broken / stuck you would not be able to change temp when the car is off or on?

the cog wears on a servo motor setup. you might find it to change when you turn the fan off too as its not putting strain against the gate. As said the part is cheap but all the dash needs to come out and is something silly like 12 hours labour.

Im still confused, when you turn the ignition on and off you can change the temp no problem. Is this just not an electrical fault?

Cheers
