Hello Again

Well ive not been on this forum for close on a year

Mainly due ot the fact i couldnt afford the clio and ended up buying another car which is far bigger, i regreted not buying a clio i wanted, BUT now the cash is stashed and i can finally purchase the clio dynamique i have wanted for so long and sell the other car i didnt want :)

52/53 Reg is what im going to go for £4k should see me right, and leaving £2.5k f rom the other car sale for insurance and some more to save up i spose

Anyways cut to the chase now, 52/53 Reg clio's are there any problems i should look out for?
obv i want service history and a good clean car but are there uner lying problems in clio's which could be costly or a bugger to sort?

Cheers Gregg

yeah go for full dealer service history and query the ECU unit any cars you look at, for starting problems, warning lights etc. basically the electrics are the most common problem with these clios Ive had my ecu replaced and its 02 reg

At what cost was the ECU replaced,
i dont mind paying for anything at all, just i dont want a clio dynamqiue if they have a list of possible problems

ive just been looking at 172 and 182's there decently priced now also, i wonder which one is the best option ;)

my ecu was under warranty at the time so dont know the exact cost. might be an idea to post a new topic in the parts/tuning section of the forum and see if anyone knows exactly how much reno charge for this.

if u can get insured on a 172/182 dont even consider a non 2 litre model they wont come close on performance and fun factor wish i could get insured on a 172/182 but im 19 at the mo so my time will come.

apart from the ecu my clio has been spot on. just check for build quality problems as they arent the best built cars in the world

hope this helps a bit mate

yeah spot on cheers for the advice

i test drove a sltr astra SRI that was £1200 on insurance so i would imagine a clio 172/182 would be around same if not a bit more

ill prob end up getting a clio 1.2 or 1.4 dynamique

you will probably find the clio is more on the insurance. Just look out for nackered synchro's in the box ( no grinding between gears). Common problems are usually electrical faults with airbag lights etc. If there is a fault don't not buy the car consult the forum and it could be an easy fix that could get you money off.
Make sure it has a good service history, particularly on the RS models.
thanks

Well im deffo after a dynamique now

saw one on autotrader 03 plate 1.2 16v gunmetal grey, full history, 1 lady owner from new, 4 new tyres and its on 53k

£3500.. Which will suit me, problem i have is im off to jamacia thursday so its whether its still around when i get back.

Cheers :)

ive gotta renew my membership as i cant access some pages now :(

a good 18months ago i joined up but ive come back the lure of the dynamique charm

how old are you and how many years no claims do you have? As there is plenty of money there for an early 172 and insurance if you're 20 or over with some no claims.

get used to rattles and if the airbag warning light comes on check the connectors on the underside of the seat, they unclip as thet seat is moved around. It drives me nuts so get the seller (if its trade) to get the cables lengthened. Generally speaking I'd buy it from a known dealer for the sake of a years warranty ;)

im 23 and have 1 yrs no claims

Ideally i need oty sell my other car 1st and then that will give me a good £5k to play with
