Hello from Lancashire!

  Clio 197 RS
Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum, I'm an active user on Clio197.net
My name is Nick and I've got a Black Clio 197.
Had it for a few months and it's just FANTASTIC!

Currently doing a lot of repairs as it was neglected by previous owners.
It will frequent many track days this year, so will hopefully meet some of you chaps!
Cheers

Both really, the swivel joints were completely shot! I've done one but it was a nightmare so haven't got round to doing the other, however I will be doing it tomorrow.
Every nut/bolt I come to is rusted solid, so I've had plenty of snapped bolts to drill out
I've replaced the suspension link arms with custom made rose jointed ones, then the rest is just mods to improve the car.
I've also had to do timing belt and dephaser pulley, next big job is gearbox rebuild due to crunchy 3rd gear
Spent thousands since buying the car 😂

Yes!!! Very very cheap!
To be fair it had the timing belt done not too long ago but there was no paperwork for it, so I did it anyway.
The bodywork is tidy apart from front bumper, interior is mint, so it was worthy of the spending

Sounds like you got the best of both worlds. A tidy car on the aesthetics, but one that needed attention that you're happy to get stuck in with. If you weren't an expert as removing seized bolts, it appears that you are now!

As with all RS models, I think the 197 really suits a nice drop in ride height. Not arch-scraping/on the floor nonsense - but 30mm or so.

Any plans for exhaust, suspension or brake mods?

Oxyacetylene bottles cures that problem!
I've completely removed everything Suspension related, replaced both swivels joints now, replaced the suspension link arms with rose jointed ones, replaced all the locknuts and copper slipped EVERYTHING!

I've done quite a lot already.
Put the cup dampers/ eibach springs on today, 20mm/25mm drop-looks great and feels nicer to drive/flatter in the corners.
I've put braided lines on, mintex pads, AP dot 5 fluid, decat and centre silencer removed- I like the stock exhaust, just needed more tone.
Back seats stripped out.

I've done a Carnimat TomTom conversion from a 2012 Clio, with the bluetooth headunit so have hands free.
Full SMD LED conversion in the interior. Clocks look so much nicer at night with white leds.

2 jobs left to do now- gearbox has started crunching (however clutch is abit high so might be that not helping things) and engine mounts are worn, so I've got powerflex bushes on order

Wow. You've certainly put in the effort!

Nothing phased you or completely left you baffled so far?

I will be rebuilding it myself, having said that... today I fitted full powerflex engine mounts and it is much much better now!
So I'm changing oil tomorrow and bleeding clutch so I can put it off for a while.
