Hello, New Cleo 172, first time owner, please help

all looks connected and ok ? short of re-wiring the lot (there is a surprising amount of wire under there, for a seat ?)

Really common fault. The airbag light will be on for one of two reasons...

1) The cars had a whack and someone doesn't want to fork out to get the airbag ECU replaced £££ at Renault. (Although there is a guy on ebay who sorts it for £25!!)

2) Go under the passenger seat and there will be a plastic conector block. Cut it out and solder the wires together instead. Wrap in a suitable material (heat shrink etc) and your airbag issues should be sorted. It happens becasue the connectors are made of cheese and can't cope with the seat sliding backwards and forwards.

I had a crack in my washer bottle right where the rubber washers are. i just siliconed it up and had not leaks since

Nothing to do with YOUR stereo problem but the previous owner has fitted a sony stereo in my car, I was just wondering what I'd need to do to put a standard one back in. Would any clio headunit fit or would it need codes etc etc?

In up under the passenger side there's 2 wires, black and red, they are attatched to something at one end, and there's 2 plugs on the other end which are just stuffed in under the plastic pannel which goes over the gearnob etc...

Any idea? And no... I know nothing about wiring / stereos!

oh yeah the washer bottle has to be from a 172 or 182 with head light washers, not a normal clio

Right I got the stereo sorted in the end , much careful and painful wire jiggling and a little bluetack and its snug as a bug now, the OCD is satisfied, the damn airbag/service lights are displeasing though.

Good idea with the washer bottle I'll hoik it out and see if it can be simply re sealed and returned, really am baffled as to how it could be leaking anyway, heat from the engine ? **** up when prev owner was doing work on the car ? everything seems very tidy and looked after so I just don't know...

Hi,

So I went through all the airbag connector/wires on both sides , looks fine, I have unclipped and re-clipped the lot for good measure too, I have even used the key to turn off the passenger side bags in the hope it will help, pissing light is still there !!!

Anyone in the west midlands/brum care to lend a hand ?

It may have been in a bump and the airbag/s have gone off.
