Help! - £770 quoted for 72k mile service

As a very happy owner of a 72k mile Mk1 172, I need get mine serviced in the next few weeks including cam belt change and plugs (this is the first time they get changed!!).

Anyway, I have phoned my local Renault Garage (Mill Lane in Farnborough) and they have quoted me £325 for the service AND £445 for the cam belt / accessory belt / tensioners etc. making a grand total of £770 (assuming nothing else needs changing).

I have been very happy with this agrage, but there is NO WAY that a cam belt change should be £400 !!!
Can anybody recommend a good non-franchised garage in the Guildford / Farnborough area that'll be cheaper than this?? PLEASEE!!!!

independent will always be cheaper, peugeot wanted £300 to do my 205gti timing belt, mates dad a VW Audi specialist did it for £75.

Stealers are a rip off for cam belts...paid 450 for mine

yes renault wanted £750 plus to do mine. went to some local garage/dude and he did it for £325 with oil change.
