Help!! 172 Cup Cam belt fitment.....

Hello all, basically I've bought 172 Cup which was suspected to have a snapped can belt. I took the top of the engine apart and found that one of the tensioners/roller had broken into to lots of pieces.... 12 valves bent as a result!!! The head had been reconditioned all new valves, I've bought all the parts to put it back together, not cheap......
Heres where the problem starts, I've not got the tools to do the cam belt and my friend has gone travelling and obviously can't fit the kit like he promised...... I'm gutted.
Does anyone fancy coming over and fitting it? I have the cash, but the know how to do it..... Otherwise anyone fancy a 53 plate, 172 Cup with 67k, just needs putting back together...lol

Was it cheap? It sounds like you've bought it with not much of an after thought to actually getting it sorted.

It's not really as simple as someone popping over and firing it all back together, not least one that's failed as well...

I was going to suggest looking into getting it towed/recovered to one of the specialist Traders on here to sort it. But if Fred would come to you i'd be giving him a call

I bought it relatively cheap and at the time had a highly qualified mechanic in line to put it all back together for me..... That's my problem, he's gone... :-(

you get it sorted yet ? and what sort of damage was there ?hows the head and crowns?

Fortunately he wasn't going that fast when it went, pistons have valve marks on them. Head has been fully reconditioned with new everything and all valves seated in...... Hopefully I'll be able to persuade Fred to help me out.... ;-)

What would you want for the car in its current state?

I'd want to finish it to be honest, it owes me £900 with all the new parts and the head rebuild.....
