Help!172 Cup Springs On 172ff Is That Safe?

  172 Cup 2003
i've got(started on the back) put some 172 cup springs on my '02 172, are these straight swap?no need for new shocks?????

my car has 16' fox alloy wheels and although we have only fitted the rear so far i straight away had to take my mum and aunt out they were both sitting in the back and ent heffers but i had the windows open and i could hear a noise comin from the rear i know they are on correctly but my mate reckons its just the spings settling in and i should continue as normal untill they are settled and the noise should go....

...is he right or should we of changed the shocks coz im bit scaried!

please help coz im pooing a brick

Is a straight swap fella, but for 10mm difference in ride height, and ever so slightly less body roll, i wouldnt have bothered.

Would be better with a set of eibach springs, should be able to pick some up reet cheap, and will notice a far better difference.

Its not a 10mm difference its 5mm front and 3 back from memoery and thats down to camber being different.

Np fella, stand corrected. All i know is that the cup rides bloody high as standard!
It does sometime look higher than it realy should be the 172's often look a better respectful ride height. The mind plays wierd tricks on you.

the noise has nothing to do with springs settling, he's talking out his arse

how did you swap the springs??

undo the lower shock bolts (18mm) and then drop the rear beam??

did you refit the rubbers?

what offset are your wheels?? (i put £1 on saying you have the incorrect offset and your rear wheel is rubbing the inside arches)

Its the castor angle thats different on the cup int it ? Not the camber ?
(3mm lower at the front (172cup))
