HELP ! 17s on Clio 1.2 MK2

Ok. I brought a set of 4 Kei Force 10s 17inch for my clio.
The profile is 45 on the tyres.
They rub. They foul.

However, I've just come across another clio with the exact wheels on, how the hell did he stop them from rubbing. The tyre profile on his look abit smaller, probably a 40 profile but its also been LOWERED.

Am I missing something?
How the hell, wTF!?1!1

17's always rub.... I'm borrowing some for a couple of days until my new wheels arrive and they're shocking. Rub all over the place, the ride is s**t and it feels sluggish because they weigh about 5,000,000 kg each.

The only way to stop the rubbing is to butcher your wheel arches.

Rubbing..

Front
Constant whiring noise (not loud)
When turning about 'half-lock' each way it rubs but not sure where.
When turning full-lock sounds like my bumper is going to come off. (embarassing at round-a-bouts)

Rear
Rub on the whole circumference of the arch (inside)
Inside of tryes on the rear of the arch, its made its own circle, and probably fecked the tyres

When someone sits in the back, thats it, you've lots 75bhp due to rubbing.
I had to take my subs / amps out to stop it from doing it when only im in the car

smaller wheels. they dont look good with big wheels. it cost a shed load more wedge to put decent rubber on them. and it will solve the rubbing issue with smaller wheels.
