HELP aircon or heater problem ? !

On my way home tonight put the air con on for the first time in while ,set to minimum and pressed the auto took about 15 miniutes before any cold air came out of vents and then it didn't seem as if aircon was working. just started cooling down after bout 25 mins (home by then ) i know they lose gas over time but I couldn't get any cool air at all for 10 mins if the sensor for interior temp by the interior mirror packs up would this cause it or any other suggestions as what it could be ? :S

Its probably a bit late now, but you should run your air con regularly throughout the year or else the seals in the system dry out and the gas escapes.

I know a lot of people switch it off because they think the added fuel consumption is an issue, but you will end up spending more on seals and re-gassing than you will ever save on fuel.

Air con or climate control is just as much use in the Winter as it helps keep the car de-misted. It isn't just for keeping cool in the Summer.

like brian said, needs to be used on a regular basis. the fuel consumption isnt really an issue coz the fall in mpg is minimal compared to maintaining the air con system

Thanks for advice have used it last two days and has got a bit better .yes fan was working. do use it fairly regulary thru the year tho must just have lost gas will probly end up gettin it regassed thanx again for advice. it is cool now tho don't seem as good as it was .
