Help an ICE newbie...

  Golf GTI PP Mk7
ok, normally ICE does nothing for me and when i had my cup i was more than content with the standard speakers/headunit.

I got a williams yesterday and the speakers are so sh1t3 that I simply cant live with them.

there are no door speakers so I'm just changing the dash ones, 10cm i belive?

what do I need, do I need adaptors, whats best, coponents? coaxials? 2-way? 3-way, whats it all mean etc? I dont wanna spend silly money (<£80), I just want a good crisp sound that will do that alpine headunit a bit more justice.

help...

10cm,you wont get any components in that size that are cheap,go for a decent make of coaxials unless you wanna try and fit 13cm speakers and buy a set of components

  Mustang, S13, AX GT
If you're just looking at a slight upgrade I would say that a decent set of coaxials would be fine. I doubt that you'll have to pay much for a decent set of 10cm speakers. Obviously if you want real quality sound components are the way forward but you would have to find somewhere to mount the tweeters.
I have 10cm speakers in my suzuki and tbh they aren't amazing as they just dont have the ability to get a nice bit of mid/bass so I find having a sub and having it all amped up almost spot on for now. I'm not sure how well they fit but a good set to go for will have a tweeter on there aswell to add that bit of high. I have never looked at a 2-way/3-way speaker I have always looked at the power handling and frequency range for speakers, they are the most important factors imo. Have a look at http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/504.html or http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/3832.html and they should show a definate improvement over the standard.

Alternatively If you want to use right upto you're £80 limit I would personally go for a combination of http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/504.html in the dashboard and http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/5326.html in the shelf to give a half decent sound, which would be a very decent sound if you amped it up also ;)

cheers Kneel! i really needed pointing toward some products there, just ordered the infinity ones.

I'm not mad on car audio, I just want a dcent enough sound that I can listen to a CD and it not actually piss me off about how crap it sounds, as long is its reasonable then im fine.

Cheers again dude, ill let u know how I get on with them.
