Help ASAP - Coolant light

Hi,

Ive got a problem with my car and wondered if anyone can help

Its a 182, 2004. Driving along, suddenly the engine started chugging and when you put down the accelerator its noit smooth at all. This went on for about 1 minute, then the engine coolant light started flashing.

The car has a very lumpy idle and the engine seems to be shaking alot.

The temp guage was in the middle and the coolant temp is at a good level - it had its 48K service 1500 miles ago!

Anyone have an idea what could be wrong?

Reckon it cant be the sensor as the engine is so lumpy and chuggy!!!

Please help :dapprove:

Cheers pal.

Reckon ifi give it a quick wiggle that might solve the problem.

I am devoid of any mechanical know-how btw!

yea some times the wires get snagged etc, the sonsor wont move as its bolted in, make sure the conections are clean on the sensor plug etc.

is prop a sensor though. easy to change, you just need a deep socket and a some water LOL

you can see the sensor, its on the (right hand SIDE not the front sorry) of the block, sticks out like a marker pen (black with silver bolt on the engine)

has two 10mm bolts just above it , either side

Had a little wiggle, but didn't seem to make any difference. Its still really chuggy and the coolant light is still flashing.

Renault parts here i come!

Thanks for your help Ben, much appreciated.

Thought id complete this thread.

Taken th 182 to a garage today, and the guy is 99% its the coil pack.
He's running a diagnostic now and will hopefully have it back to me today.
