im trying to connect my girlfriend's dell inspiron 1501 laptop which only has a vga out socket.
i have a vga to rgb/svideo convertor which has an svideo cable going into a scart adaptor in her tv, the scart adaptor also has a red and white input which i have a cable plugged into, which then goes into her headphone socket.
when i turn on av1 on her tv, the sound comes out, but when i hold FN and press f8 (the key that says lcd/crt above it) the tv screen briefly flickers and then the pc says no output monitor detected.
i have tried using both a yellow composite video cable and an svideo into the scart adaptor with no joy. (the CRT TV only has scart sockets, no svideo etc..)
any ideas? (hope that all makes sense!)
