help - coolant system

in my old banger before and noticed steam pouring out the bonnet, thought it might have been oil leeked onto manifold, however popped the bonnet and water pissing out the top of the coolant filler cap - does anyone know if this is a pressure release system as the cap was on tite, or is it likely to be a dodgy cap - im 99.9% sure head gasket blown and thats where the excess pressure is coming from but thought the system was meant to be sealed - any help appreciated

My mate had the same thing. The dealer replaced the coolant bottle and his car seems fine now.

the system isnt sealed , if its building up pressure it is the head gasket , but any garage can pressure test it for you , new gasket and head skim to save for m8
