Help :( Crash....

Hi all,

Had a hit and run on the w/e some volvo drove into the back of me (glaced off the back) and drove off. I need to source a stock rear 172 bumper (in dark blue std clio color) ASAP.

Lucky its just surface damage, can anyone help me out? or point me in the direction. Will this be reasonable from Renault direct?

Renault will always charge extorsionate prices.. nine times out of ten, they will send it to yo primered so you will have to get it sprayed yourself.. Have you got any french scrap yards near you?

They drove off at speed, and i was on a crossing and there were kids waiting to cross so i wanted to make sure everything was ok etc.

That's so much to pay out for something that wasn't your fault.. Have a look on the 'for sale' forums.. you never know what may come up in the next few days or so..

I think a decent bodyshop will repair the bumper. Check the boot floor though, it looks a reasonable shunt. The bumper often stays together, but there is damage to the slam panel.

Not meaning to be the bearer of bad news but mine was reversed into whilst parked and hit in the same place, with less damage... it bent the brackets which it looks like it has on yours too, and it destroyed the energy absorbant foam behind the bumper and I don't think it was hit as hard as yours!

I took it to a friendly body shop I know and the guy showed me what it'd done to the foam underneath, the whole bumper + foam was replaced for £500 on the girl's insurance. You also need to check if it's bent anything behind the bumper and if the foam is damaged then any future impact may damage more than just the bumper

So did the person run through the crossing? Did you get their reg plate and have you reported it to the Police?

Yeh i had a looksy in the boot and took the rear light out. Theres no damage visible and no creases in the boot or anything.

Yep they drove over the crossing and around me, totally dangerous. Ive got some digits from the plate, so police are "trying" to find them.

U try been hit up the arse without having anyone in your mirror prior to it (he came out of a side road and glaced off my rear), it will shock you 2 lol.
