Help! Engine cleaner/octane booster

  RenaultSport Clio 172
Hey everyone, bit of a noob here so apologies if this thread isn't in the the right place!

Got a 172 mk2, had it about 2 months and recently started to notice it was getting a bit sluggish when i put the foot down, seems to be a bit of a lag so I'm wondering whether to get some kind engine cleaner such as Redex.

Anyone got any thoughts on these kind of things? Also, is it worth getting an octane booster, you know the sort of thing, a "once a year" application to clean out the injectors?

Also considering getting an octane booster to put in everytime I fill up to give it a bit more of a kick.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated!

Cheers.

it wont make any long term difference, no chance a car that new will be dirty enough for it to make a difference. its not really worth doing unless your cars well....old

Start running a quality fuel like optimax. That will make a difference.

No need for octane booster at all....that stuff is good for Japanese turbo imports designed to run on 100ron fuel.

Not sure on the engine cleaner.....injector stuff can be good once in while.

Cheers guys, I run it on Optimax anyway, although just started to try that new Tesco 99 octane stuff, awaiting the results!

Thanks again fellas.

japs have 120octane on the pump to everycar

is it possible to use octance boost on my 1.2 to make it run better on optimax?

IIRC Japs have 102ron fuel

Unless you have the car mapped to run on optimax plus OB it's a waste of money.

I find that the Tesco 99 Ron is pants. The kick isn't anywhere near as strong and the fuel economy is between 4 and 5 mpg worse than on Optimax.

Just my 2p worth.
