HELP! engine smoking!!!

Car  2005 Impreza WRX STI
its not on a clio though sorry:( . My beast of a 1.4 escort :clown:
Basically i serviced it the other day, oil, oil filter air filter, spark plugs. I found quite a bit of oil in the airbox (on top of the carb) and also one of the spark plugs. ( maybe the rings have gone i dont no?) it runs fine BUT.... it has started to smoke quite badly from what looks like the manifold. I dont know whether i spilt a little oil on exhaust or its something else. Anyone got any ideas? i didnt look at it long as i had other things to do so cant really say much else for now. Any help greatly appreciated!:)

fords are one of the easiest engines to work on imo not a hard job on any car to take off the rocker cover

My Husband had the same problem with his Megane Coupe and it was the Rocker Box Gasket.

It's very easy to do, especially on a ford, just a case of removing the Rocker Box bolts, removing old gasket, cleaning where gasket was, putting in new gasket along with some gasket sealant, and replacing rocker box. Make sure you do up bolts in the right sequence and torgue them to the right pressure. (Refer to hand book or haynes manual for correct torgue). Easy peasy.

but with a ford providing its tht CVH engine it'll be a cork gasket too.

By 'sequence' I mean starting (usually on fords) at the top left and working your way round in a clockwise direction, this means you will not only not forget which ones you have done ,but it also helps to keep the gasket seated properly whilst tightening. :rasp:
