Help for a newbie please...............................

  LY R27 F1 Clio
I have recently bought my 1st Clio 172 and absolutley love it! I have taken the car in to the garage where I bought it from for a few problems that I have. Im just after a bit of advice as im sure that they are trying to fob me off :dapprove:

1st problem is that if you give it some beans in 1st gear, it sounds like the engine is gonna come through the bulk head! It bangs really loud until you take your foot off the gas. The garage has told me that this is normal due to it been a big engine in a little car :nono:

2nd problem is a loud click from the steering from lock to lock. It does this without fail evertytime, however the garage tells me that they have possibly heard it once.

3rd problem is ESP light coming on over 60mph. However they tell me that despite the esp light been on that no codes have been stored and that they cannot fault it on the road.............Hmmmmmmm

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

1st: dogbone mount worn, get new oem or powerflex bushes
2nd: faulty driveshafts or topmounts
3rd: when light comes up, code must be stored, take it to the stealer (Renault)

Nice one, thanks for that. Trouble is, it is still under warranty from the garage that I bought it from so really they should be putting these things right. Without sounding like an idiot, what is a dogbone mount and where does it fit?

Take it to another garage, like a stealer. They will do a health check, get a report of what is wrong and take it back where you got the car from.

As said, Renault are currently doing a free health check. Book yourself in, then take the car back to the garage with any related issues they find.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggghhhhhhh!!!!! It also looks like the garage have told me a big fat nasty lie! They told me that the cambelt wasnt due until nxt year. Nope, its over due according to the history by about 2yrs!! Spoken to them and got the old "We wouldnt have said that" shpeel! .

Ok by this point, im beginning to understand how much they have had my pants down and......................................well you know the rest!! Got the car booked in at Reno for a health check on monday. Also got a price for the timing belt doing, glad I was sat down, £790.96 fitted! Is there anywhere cheaper that will do it? Thats a bit of a kick, especially since I have just bought the car!

dogbone mount is an engine mount near the exhaust which reduces tilting of the engine. look for a specialist like btm near you!

Where did you hear about the free health check? Are all renault dealers doing this?

The clio's been in to Renault who hilighted loads more issues. The car is going in to a garage for the repairs at the cost of the halfwits that sold it to me :clown: . Just a note to anyone that takes there car for a free health check to Renault, not sure if it was just the dealer that I took mine to in Huddersfield but I was told I could wait while they did looked at the car. 2hrs later I was still waiting :sleepy: . Prob best to drop the car off and leave it with the dealer rather than try and do it in your dinner hour like me lol.............
