Help from worcester please!

Hi everyone, having problems with my clio 182. Cut a long story short, bought a race battery, fitted it all was well for a good few hours of driving, lights on, stop starting in traffic, fine. Went for a blast the following day and gave it some stick down a country lane and suddenly the battery light and stop light came on. Lights went dim, battery flat! Tried to charge it no good, so bought a new battery, same symptoms, battery light straight on an went flat after ten mins. Anyone have any ideas? Maybe alternator or a loose connection from a good hard drive through back lanes? Anyone have a diagnostic machine/rs tuner in worcester they could lend me,? Thanks alot

Just to add, the fresh battery went flat after ten mins whereas the day before it was fine for a whole day! I'm pretty sure it's not the battery maybe a dodgy connection on the Alternator?

have a look and check the big cable is still attached to the alternator, pretty common they rust and snap off, if its still on you need a multimeter across the battery and see what its reading with the engine running, below 13 and the alternator is toast

K ill do that, my old man reckons I missed a wire off te battery for the alternator, is that a possibility? I have one main live and 2 smaller ones going into the fuse box then one negative that branches into 2. Doubt it's that though as it was fine all day the other day

Ps is that the wire you can see from the engine bay, right hand side of the alternator?
