Help, info, advice on Walkie Talkies please

Hi all, I'm looking for some help and advice on walkie talkies (two way radios)

A group of us are off to do a Euro Tour this year and I would like to get some walk talkies so we can keep in contact

I would like radios that do hands free if possible just to make things easier and safer for us drivers..

I know nothing about walkie talkies so any help or info you could pass onto me would be very gratefully received..

many thanks

EDIT:

They're so cool - I'm 12 and me and my mates use them to tell each other when to get up in the morning, when we bike to school and when we get a bit bored in lessons, well it's obvious isn't it?!

Sums up my mentality then lol

Be careful, the French Plod are very twitchy about radio apparatus.
Unless you have a licence to operate it, they will take it from you if they see or detect you using it. As they will with Radar detectors.

Some CB radios will give you a range of up to 10 miles in optimum conditions, you will need a licence, and check what frequencies are legal in France.
