help make my computer faster

Hi guys. My 2 year old laptop has started being very slow at starting up.
From clicking log on to all icone being displayed on the desktop and the laptop fully booting up takes 14 minutes.

Ive recently installed some new internet security software- Panda internet security 2006.

It was slow even before installing this. How can i make it faster? Ive heard about defragmenting the system, which is supposed to make it faster, but is this the best way?

Probably best to run Spybot search and destroy, usually caused by adware or virii.

A defrag might help but 14 mins is crazy so most likely caused by adware, also try a registry cleaner if your feeling brave.

Not sure about a free registry cleaner but try spybot first. Its on the link I posted.
