HELP - MK1 Steering Wheel Light???????

Hi All

I have a M Reg Mk1 and i have just bought a Leather covered steering wheel to replace the existing plastic one, it has a flashing red light in the center of the steering wheel on the plastic part that says Air Bag.

Does anyone know what this red flashing light is for????

airbag light?! most ppl i no who have changed their steering wheel get a light flashing.

does that mean that the airbag wont work, or that whn i change the wheel over the management light on th dash will come on or that i will have any residual problems with the car????

id have thought once you change the wheel over the airbag will not work, which is why the light on the dashboard will constantly flash.
