right, today i went to start my car to move it into the compound.
it started perfectly without struggle.
left the car outside for arround 2 hours whilst cleaning the bay where my car had been sat in the air for how long.

went to crank it over again and it fired up again without struggle, reversed it back into the bay and left it running.

here's the bit i am sh*ting myself about!!

in the mean time i went into the spray booth to spray few parts, andy ( garage owner and freind of mine ) came running in shouting his head off saying my car wont switch off and is whilstle'n like a b**** and building revs up, ran in and lights where flashing everwhere on the cluster, tried to blip the throttle to see if it would stop it and no joy, so next thing in line ( all whilst pannicing like hell ) desided to get a spanner and take the battery terminals off in the hope of killing the fuel pump.

managed to get it to stop, and re connected the battery, re primed the pump, went to crank the engine and it tries to turn over but nothing.

really need help with this, anything much appreciated.

( sorry for the long windded aproach )

diesel? that's ran on its own oil, engine will more than likley be f**ked

Should have just put ur foot hard on the brake and stalled it. I had a diesel escort do this a couple of times, was never sure why though :S

Was it low on diesel. Like fred said once they run out they can be known to burn there engine oil to run

i wish i did now, andy has just told me that i should of put it into 5th and had my breaks on as far as i could push the pedal :dapprove:

reason behind this ? rather annoying as it was bloody fine until i left it running

engine overfilled with oil?
turbo oil seals gone

etc

by putting it in 5th gear and lifting the clutch the engine will stall

think you'll be needing a new engine dude

mine only goes upto 5k, really odd cluster aswell, black trim, black backround with white numbers and lettering. no red line visable. revs got stuck at just under 5k and didnt climb or fall :S

fingers crossed for you. Will be tiny little bits in there, maybe shine an LED torch into the drained oil to look for them reflecting

brilliant just what i need :(, might aswell get it out and paint the car then follow on from thier.
right all i know is their is f**k all chance of saving this engine, can already tell that valves and pistons could be fucked and turbo gone with the wind.

if i get another engine and fit it, can you do the mega bits of timming for me fred?
i have the renault tools off my uncle to do them but i dont trust myself and neither does andy as he has no experiance with reno engines. uncle is off on holiday for the next 3 months aswell so i'm stuck.

fred would be closest as your only half hour or so away from me.

cheers mate, got a new engine today thats done 45k ( dci 80 ) all complete, turbo ect.
going to strip that down, new piston rings, have the injectors sent off for a flush, re-lap the valves into thier seats, andy is going to port polish it up a little.

turbo is goin to a freinds to have the internals strengthened

flush all the fuel system out inc tank, new pump ( as i have killed it ),
then i think im going to make a trip to Fred@BTM to have it all timed up and checked over :). don't want another f**k up when its all nearly finished :nono:
aaaaannndd after iv had the engine for a 1000 miles or so to check everything, might go for a cheeky remap ;)

still gutted with it all, turning into a right money pit :(

Just make sure the injectors are all codes to the ECU.

WOuldn't bother with any more than a new cambelt if needed.

just whack the engine in, don't bother cocking about with it!!!

okay, just thought about going all out with this one in the hope of preventing the mess thats happened with the original. had it apart and tbh it looks like a squirel has been at it and swomped in lovely black oil :dapprove:.

will fit the new one then, but injectors and turbo are already off, andy has sent them to where they are going today.
