HELP NEEDED! (neutrik connectors)

ill cut to the chase:

i bought and alpine type r sub that is sold as already boxed and alpine amp for christmas. seen here: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/images/b_sbr1021sb.jpghttp://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/images/b_sbr1021sb.jpg

installed it and works fine but ive been having trouble with the connector on the sub box. the connector is made by neutrik and looks just like this but in black:

The sub is dual voice coil so the 2 - holes are the left and right dents, and the 2 + are top and bottom of the middle hole. i currently have the negative jammed into the gap and the positive loose in the middle hole with a bit of blue-tac. Trouble is they are not 100% secure this way obviously, and the slightest movement of either speaker wire can mean losing sound.

what exactly have i missed here? the connectors inside seem too far in to solder to.......what can be done to get a secure connection?
