help needed

  RenaultSport clio 172 mk2
Please can someone help me? my clio is constantly pulling to the left. I have tried everything I can think of non-major like the tracking, tyre pressures, I have had the calliper and pads changed I have taken it to numerous garages and they can't find the source of the problem. This is really starting to get me down, so if anyone have had any similar problems or have any ideas how to sort it I would be most grateful

cheers

How much is it pulling?

It should pull a touch under light acceleration, and it will depend on the camber of the road.

Under hard acceleration I get a fair amount of torque steer in that general direction.

Its pulling sharply, even if I'm just cruising at 30 it wants me to have the off. I have even taken it into the warehouse in which I work for a drive around and the floor there is completely flat and exactly the same

How long you had the car?

Are all the shocks ok? Could be a fault with one somewhere, any leaking etc?

Ive had the car nearly a year x reg,2000 I have had this problem for nearly 4 months. As I said its been to numerous garages so I would have thought that they would have picked it up (well I hoped so for the money it has cost me) but they can't find what the problem is.when I'm driving at any speed at all fast, slow as soon as I let go of the steering the wheel turns to about 11 o'clock and then stays there the same if I try to pull off as soon as the tyres turn the steering wheel goes straight to 11 o'clock.
Its got me!

Best get Renault to have a look mayabe its been crashed or something out of alignment also swop the wheels round maybe one has a bulge you cannot see.

Beyond that check that the stearing wheel position sensor is working right but only Renault can do that realy.

Tyre treads sometimes cause it too, especially if you've got a worn tyre on one side and a new one on the other. Also you'd want to get the garage to check for wear in the steering rack too, Renault build quality aint the best unfautunately.

ok i had a similar prob with my cav i had it to 3 fast fit centres they all set the steering to 0 on the lazer liner, when i started at the garage they had the same set up i checked the book for setting after my 3rd set of front tyres the settings in the book said they should be set at 2 degrees + or - which means NOT 0 which they all set it to, problem solved, so get someone to properly check the books and set it right as they all think 0 will solve it.

Its s**t when something like this happens. You loose all faith in the car.
Its bound to be something simple but get it checked.
Dont go back and have it alligned again because garages will take your money all day to set this up,and then some

Hope you get it fixed soon.

i have the same problem with mine for ages, its quite wierd on mine as its most noticable when stop starting in traffic, i can be doing 2mph and its pulling quite hard yet a 80mph on a motorway its alot better
ive put it down to a combination of monkeys tracking it up, odd tires on the front and a bad encounter with a curb along time ago.
